Volodja Balzalorsky , from Ljubljana, Slovenia, is one of the leading Slovene violinists. After graduating from the class of Igor Ozim at the Hochschule fur Musik in Cologne, Germany, he continued his studies in Moscow, then with Czech violinist Josef Suk at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna. He has made many appearances in concert and on broadcasts and recordings in Slovenia and abroad, and has been a regular guest at international festivals throughout Europe , including Belgium , germany , Austria , italy , the Czech Republic , Great Britain , and Slovenia . An active chamber musician, Balzalorsky is the founder of the Amael Trio in Ljubljana, and the artistic director of the Spectrum chamber music series there. He is a former solo violinist of the Freiburger barocksoloisten in Germany. He has been a guest soloist with the Percussion Plus project in Venice and Prague . Teaching is an important and complimentary part of his artistic career, and he has been on the faculty of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana since 1966. He has also given master classes throughout Slovenia, in Croatia, and Britain, and at the Interlochen Arts Academy.
